Staff Nurse (Nursing)

Job Type: Full-Time / Shift-Based
Job Summary:
The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients, ensuring patient safety, and supporting the medical team in diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive healthcare procedures.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Patient Care:
- Monitor patient health status and record vital signs regularly.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and on time.
- Assist doctors during rounds and in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
- Provide wound care, catheterization, IV cannulation, and other nursing interventions.
- Maintain proper documentation of nursing care in patient records.
2. Patient Safety and Hygiene:
- Ensure infection control protocols and hospital hygiene standards are maintained.
- Observe and report any unusual changes in patients’ condition immediately.
- Adhere to patient privacy and confidentiality guidelines.
3. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate nursing notes, progress charts, medication records, and incident reports.
- Handover effectively to incoming nursing staff at the end of each shift.
- Assist in the collection of patient data for audits and evaluations.
4. Communication:
- Educate patients and their families about disease, medications, diet, and post-discharge care.
- Coordinate with doctors, lab technicians, and other healthcare staff as required.
- Act as a liaison between patient and healthcare team.
5. Emergency Management:
- Respond promptly to emergency codes (e.g., Code Blue).
- Perform CPR and other emergency care procedures as trained.
- Ensure readiness of emergency trolleys and equipment.
6. Operational Duties:
- Check and prepare nursing supplies and equipment.
- Assist in maintaining stock levels and placing requisitions.
- Participate in ward meetings, quality control activities, and in-service training.
7. Ethical & Legal Compliance:
- Follow hospital policies, nursing code of ethics, and local/state regulations.
- Uphold dignity, compassion, and professionalism in patient care.
Qualification:
- Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) / B.Sc. Nursing
- Registered Nurse with State Nursing Council
Experience:
0 to 5+ years (freshers may also be considered depending on requirement)
